Seychelles

The Seychelles is a country in the Indian Ocean northeast of Madagascar. It is made up of a chain of islands. Some quick facts about the Seychelles include:

  • The Seychelles didn’t have humans living there until the late 1700s.

  • The Seychelles’ flag has five different colors in it: white, blue, yellow, red and green.

  • Tourism is the main source of income for the island followed by tuna fishing.

  • The heaviest land tortoise in the world lives in the Seychelles. Her name is Esmerelda and she weighs 670 lbs!

  • The islands were once a hideout for pirates.
