Berlin Part 2: The Raslan's Journey
A Syrian family starts over in Berlin
Berlin once kept its own citizens separated from one another. Now, years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the city has opened its doors to people from all over the world.
Many people have moved to Berlin for many different reasons, but the Raslan Family, like 600,000 other Syrian refugees, were fleeing war and came to the city seeking safe haven.
A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee their country because of persecution, war, or violence. Often, refugees are running for their lives and their journey is long and dangerous. Some die or go missing while trying to find a better life. The Raslan’s journey took them across several countries. This is their success story of starting a new life in Germany.
