ProjectExplorer.org’s newest initiative, the Good Global Citizen project, premiered in mid-September and is already making quite a splash! Building on our mission to foster the next generation of global citizens, we’ve been busy asking leaders, celebrities, visionaries, moguls, and everyone in between to answer one little question.

Head over to ProjectExplorer.org’s Good Global Citizen Network to see what the buzz is about.

With some serious star-power joining in, ProjectExplorer.org’s Good Global Citizen dialogue has already been featured in Serious Eats, Broadway World, Takepart.com, and NY Examiner.

Just like ProjectExplorer.org’s regular programming, the Good Global Citizen website offers lesson plan ideas for incorporating global citizenship into classroom curricula.

To join the conversation, simply create a video incorporating your global perspective. Then, share your point-of-view with the world by uploading your video at goodglobalcitizen.ning.com

School is in back session and ProjectExplorer.org is already leading the class in gold stars!

On 10 September, ProjectExplorer.org was honored with a GOLD Parents’ Choice award for excellence in web programming. ProjectExplorer.org was selected to go to the head of the class along with world-class educational content providers such as PBS and Scholastic.

Established in 1978, the Parents’ Choice Foundation’s purpose is to recommend products that help kids grow -- imaginatively, physically, morally, and mentally.

Keeping very busy during summer school, ProjectExplorer.org was often featured in the press. Some of our honorable mentions include: The Bay State Banner, The Daytona Beach News-Journal, The Eastern Times of Sarawak, and The Albany Times-Union.

Visit our press page for recent articles featuring our work.

ProjectExplorer.org has several new programs in the works, including Malaysia, Mexico, and Panama.

This spring, Jenny M Buccos (series director/producer) and Ilana Fayerman (series host/producer) were invited to tour Malaysia as guests of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board. During their fact-finding trip, they mapped-out the entire expedition for an upcoming series -- Malaysia: One Country, Many Cultures.

Jenny and Ilana were able to capture on film some of Malaysian Borneo’s most hidden treasures -- the shy Proboscis monkey and the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia. And, as luck would have it, they were there during prime Durian season. See what all the fuss is about with this stinky, spiky fruit --

Everyone seems keen to know where future projects will take us. Have a great idea for a project? Let us know.

We are pleased to announce the newest members of ProjectExplorer’s Board of Directors...

  • Amy Kleisner has two boys and is the Founder of the Hoboken Family Alliance, a 450-family group dedicated to enriching the lives of Hoboken’s youngest residents. Little-Known Fact: You wouldn’t know this to look at her, but Amy has broken her nose 4 times!
  •
  • Billy Burgess is currently living in Sweden and he is the Interactive Marketing Manager for Malibu Rum. Little-Known Fact: Ever the organized Board member, Billy often wishes he had invented the paper clip!
  •
  • Chavaughn Raines, our newest Board member, is an Event Planner for the Time Warner Global Media Group. Little-Known Fact: She may just be Christiane Amanpour’s biggest fan!
  •
  • Jeff Elgart is our acting Board President. In 2008, Jeff decided to leave the corporate universe for a home in the nonprofit world. Little-Known Fact: He doesn’t like when different foods touch on his plate.
  •
  • José González has two boys and is Deputy General Counsel in the Law Department of one of the world’s largest commercial and personal insurance organizations. Little-Known Fact: If you ever catch him tapping his foot in time to the beat, it may be because he has always secretly wanted to be a DJ!

If you would like to meet any members of our team, then make sure to register at ProjectExplorer.org and select the events option. This way you will be in-the-know regarding any upcoming events. (We have several planned in the coming months.)

As the ProjectExplorer.org series director and producer, I spend the majority of my time behind the camera. In the past year, I have found myself in front of the camera on several occasions, which is not as easy as my on-camera presenters often make it look. However, since we are encouraging readers and viewers around the world to speak up as part of our Good Global Citizen dialogue, I decided to step from behind the camera, once again, and share my video commentary with you.

I hope that one of the many videos from our Good Global Citizen project will inspire you to take part in this dialogue and add your point-of-view.

Buccos for ProjectExplorer’s Good Global Citizen Network

With the Global Citizen project, I’ve spent several months meeting some exceedingly inspiring individuals and introducing our vision to an even broader audience. With so many new followers and supporters, I am excited to get back to what we do best with our upcoming Malaysia and Mexico series. With a strong focus on environmental awareness, archaeology, and languages, these project will add more depth to ProjectExplorer.org’s growing catalogue of free videos, which would not be possible without your support.

Again, I appeal to your generous nature and ask that you make a donation. No amount is too small and no amount is too large.

Happy Exploring!

Jenny (Mbali) Buccos
Executive Director & Founder
