Turkish Delight
Day 16
What great hosts! With the help and generosity of Tas Pide and its manager, Zeynep, today we had the most incredible meal. Turkish cuisine is one of my favorite foods. Unfortunately, I didn't know this until eating at Tas Pide. Zeynep helped us select the best dishes on the menu. Together, we chose dishes that represented traditional Turkish cuisine as well as a few Tas original recipes. Today, we were joined by our friends from London, Shaima and Ahmed. This made our meal even better! I felt like a king as we passed plate after tasty plate. Of course, Zeynep and the staff prepared something to satisfy everyone; seafood lovers, vegetarians, and our adventurous team members who will try just about anything. We started with red lentil soup, which is served to help warm up the stomach before the main meal. Then, we had more dishes than I can count. The best were borek, a spinach and cheese pastry, and a Turkish style pizza with Hellim cheese. To finish, Turkish coffee and Turkish Delight. Turkish coffee is a very dark, strong coffee; it is so thick there is a chocolatey residue at the bottom of the tiny cup. To my luck, Tas Pide was located near our hotel and directly across from Shakespeare's Globe, so we got to eat here more than once. Happy eating,
