Turkish Delight
Part of the joy of travelling is getting to experience new foods. That is precisely what today was all about! London is packed with every type of international cuisine imaginable.
Today, with the help and generosity of Tas Pide Turkish Restaurant, and its manager Zeynep, we had the most incredible meal. Turkish cuisine is one of my favorite types of food. Funny though, I didn’t know this until eating at Tas Pide. Zeynep helped us select the best dishes on the menu. Together, we chose dishes that represented traditional Turkish cuisine as well as a few Tas original recipes. I felt like a king as we passed plate after tasty plate around the table. Zeynep and the staff prepared something to satisfy everyone: seafood lovers, vegetarians, and our adventurous team members who will try just about anything. We started with red lentil soup, which is served to help warm up the stomach before the main meal. My 2 favorite dishes were borek, a spinach and cheese pastry, and a Turkish style pizza with Hellim cheese. To finish, Turkish coffee and Turkish Delight were served. Turkish coffee is a very dark, strong coffee, and it’s so thick that it leaves chocolatey residue at the bottom of the tiny cups. Luckily, Tas Pide is located near our hotel and directly across from Shakespeare’s Globe, so we got to eat here more than once. Enhance your Culinary Vocab: Learn about curry. Happy eating,
