The London Eye

I loved our flight on the British Airways London Eye.

This is a ‘must do’ for anyone who visits London. The view from the eye is overwhelming, and on a clear day you can see 25 miles in each direction.

A number of famous London sites can be seen from The Eye: Covent Garden, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, the British Museum, and miles of the River Thames.

The wheel has egg-shaped pods around the outside to carry passengers. These enclosed rooms make The Eye fun to ride (even when it’s raining, like today). The wheel never stops moving, so you have to step carefully when getting in and out of your pod.

Since opening in 2000, The Eye has become a London icon and has been featured in movies and televisions shows. While making our video, people in other pods were taking pictures of us. Maybe they thought we were famous and were making the next Hollywood hit!

I hope you enjoy the city at sunset. Even on a rainy and cloudy day I don’t think there is any night skyline that can compare!

With my head in the clouds,

Get Political! Meet Simon Hughes, a member of Parliament.
