The Tube

The London Underground is the world's first underground railroad. It opened in 1863. It is also called the Tube, because the tunnels are shaped like tubes.

Today, there are 275 stations and more than 970 million people take the Tube each year. The busiest station during the morning rush hour is Waterloo Station.

It is a cheap, quick, and easy way to get around London. It can even take you from the airport right to the heart of the city.
