The duties of a stage manager may vary depending on the play or theatre, but their primary responsibility is making sure a production is organized and runs smoothly.

A stage manager works with the director, to communicate with the cast and crew member. He or she is responsible for managing props, recording lighting, sound cues, and noting where the actors should be on stage during each scene. They are also responsible for keeping the rehearsal and performance schedules. A Stage Manager attends the auditions, all rehearsals, and every performance.
