Parliament is the United Kingdom's government. It was formed in 1707. Members of Parliament consider legislation and discuss important governmental issues.

Parliament is made up of two parts; the House of Commons and the House of Lords. There are more than 600 House of Commons members and more than 700 members in the House of Lords.

The House of Commons is similiar to the U.S. House of representatives. Each member is elected by the people to represent a constituency. In the U.S. they are called districts.
