Elizabethan

The Elizabethan Age was the period in English history associated with the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1558-1603). It is often considered the high point of the English Renaissance, when literature and poetry were at their peak. Some English Renaissance writers included Edmund Spenser, Francis Bacon, and John Milton.

Shakespeare was the most famous writer for the Elizabethan theatre and wrote plays that broke away from England's past styles. Therefore, the period is also called "the Age of Shakespeare", honoring the era's most famous author.

During this era, England experienced a great period of expansion and exploration to new countries and lands. During this time, there was peace within the country, for the most part.
