The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a small country located in the Middle East. It is bordered by Iraq, Israel, Syria, the West Bank, and Saudi Arabia.
Some quick facts about Jordan include:
- As of 2008, the population of Jordan was approximately 6 million.
- Previously under British control, Jordan gained its independence in 1946.
- Amman, the capital city, is located in the northwest part of the country.
- Arabic is the official language of Jordan.
- Arabs make up the largest ethnic group with 98% of the population. Circassians and Armenians each make up 1% of the population.
- Sunni Muslims make up the largest religious group with 92% of the population. Christians make up 6% of the population, and other religions make up 2%.
