Fresco |
|
A fresco is a work of art. To create a fresco, an artist paints onto wet plaster. This way, the paint and the plaster dry at the same time. This style of painting was very popular during the Renaissance Period, especially in Italy. However, the earliest examples of fresco paintings are found in Greece and are believed to be from 1500 BCE. One of the world’s most famous frescoes is the Sistine Chapel ceiling in Italy. It was painted by Michelangelo and was completed in 1512. Copyright © ProjectExplorer 2009 |
