Sun Goddess Clothing - Strike A Pose
Day 9

Sun Goddess creates some of the best clothing in South Africa. Today, we met the owners and designers of Sun Goddess, Mr. and Mrs. Mangaliso.

The really cool thing about Sun Goddess is that they are inspired by traditional clothing. They are known for creating beautiful Xhosa designs.

They make clothes for men, women, and even children. Each piece of clothing is beautifully sewn and hand-beaded. A lot of detail goes into each piece of clothing made. This makes owning a piece of Sun Goddess clothing a luxury.

Ilana, Meredith, and I got to try on some of their beautiful dresses. Many of the dresses had laces instead of buttons or zippers. For some of the outfits we needed help getting them laced up.

I tried on one of the most popular designs called an Ncebetha. It was a bright yellow and looked like an apron or pinafore. Ilana tried on a red and brown dress that was made for Miss Teen South Africa!

Meredith learned how to tie her hair up in a scarf. Headscarves are very popular in Africa. It was interesting to learn the different ways to tie wrap them.
