Islam is a religion that believes in a single god and teachings of Muhammad. Followers of Islam are known as Muslims.

Today, Islam is the second largest religion in the world, after Christianity. It is estimated that there are between 1.2 and 1.8 billion Muslims, which represents over 20% of the world’s population.
