Afrikaans is one of South Africa’s national languages. It is spoken by nearly six million people nationwide. Afrikaans is also spoken in the southern African country of Namibia.

Afrikaans is one of the newest languages in the world. It’s the language of the Dutch-speaking settlers who came to South Africa from the Netherlands in the 1600s.
