Turkish Delight
Day 16

Tas Pide is a Turkish restaurant that has little dishes that are perfect for sharing. It is located across the street from Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Today, our friends from London, Shaima and Ahmed, joined us for lunch.

A Turkish meal usually starts with a small bowl of soup to warm up the stomach before the main meal. It is a bit like stretching before you exercise.

We wanted to try everything on the menu. This made it hard for us to decide what to order. Christopher talked to the manager of the restaurant to get some help. Her name was Zeynep. Christopher and Zeynep chose a few things for us to share.

When the food was served, Zeynep told us about each dish. We tried borek. This is a cheese and spinach pastry. Borek is a very traditional Turkish food. We also tried a Turkish pizza with Hellim cheese and apricots. Yummy! Do you have any traditional foods in your family?

At the end of our meal we tried Turkish Delight and Turkish coffee. The coffee comes in tiny cups and it is supposed to help you digest your food.

The food at Tas Pide was great for a team of hungry explorers.

Happy eating,
