Minding the Gap
Day 15

Many Londoners use public transportation to move about the city every day.

The Tube is also called the Underground. The Tube is London’s subway system. These trains take passengers through a tunnel system that stretches all over London.

When you get off and on a train you may here a voice telling you to “Mind the Gap” over a speaker. This means that you should watch your step. Sometimes there is space between the train and the platform. Getting your foot caught would be bad.

In London, the Tube makes it easy to get from place to place. To ride the Tube you must buy a ticket from a ticket machine or at the ticket counter. When riding the Tube it is important to hold on to your ticket, because you will need it to exit the station when you arrive at your stop.

The Tube is very easy to use. It saves money on taxicabs and on gasoline for cars. Have you ever been on a train before?

I hope you enjoy traveling the Tube with me.
