Theatre Tickets
In Shakespeare’s time, some popular London theatres were the Rose and the Globe. Today, London is still famous for its many theatres.
The first theatre we visited in London was Shakespeare’s Globe. The Globe is where most of Shakespeare’s plays were first put on. Today, this theatre has been rebuilt to look like the original. We saw 4 plays at the new Shakespeare’s Globe. I even got to be a groundling at 2 of the shows. At first, I was worried that my feet and legs would get very tired, but the plays were so good that I forgot that I was standing. At the Old Vic theatre, we saw Shakespeare’s play Richard II. This version of the play was very modern. It used large television screens to help tell the story. We also visited the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. While there, we met with Tom Piper and learned all about his job as a designer. I liked learning about all the different jobs in the theatre and how people work as a team to put on a play. Tickets, please.
