Inside Parliament with Simon Hughes
Today, we met MP Simon Hughes. MP means Member of Parliament. MP’s represent the people living in Britain.
We met Simon in his office in Portcullis House, across from Big Ben. Before we got started, Simon offered us breakfast. I thought it was very nice that he took the time to get to know us. Simon’s office was smaller than I thought it would be. There were huge stacks of paper on the desk. Simon told us he gets many letters from people in his borough asking for help. He works very hard to help as many people as he can. Simon talked about being a good leader. He said it is important to listen and be aware of what is going on in the world. He also encouraged us to be strong leaders. Simon would like to see more young people, women, and minorities get involved in their governments. I left Simon’s office thinking about what I can do to be a good leader. What can you do to make your community a better place? From Parliament,
