The Tower of London

The Tower of London was built in the 11th century. That’s almost 1000 years ago!

The first part built was the White Tower, which is still standing. Many other towers, buildings, and an out wall have been added over the years.

The Tower of London has served many different purposes. It has been a palace, a fortress, a prison, an armory, and even a zoo.

Today, the Tower is home to the Crown Jewels and the Yeoman Warders. In 2005, almost 2 million people visited the Tower of London.
