The Elizabethan Era is another name for the time that Queen Elizabeth I ruled England.

During this time, some of the greatest writers lived and worked. Some of these were: Francis Bacon, Christopher Marlowe, and John Milton.

This was also the time Shakespeare’s plays were written and performed. Many theatres opened, and going to see a play was very popular.
