Anne Hathaway’s Cottage
Today, we woke up at 5:30am to visit Anne Hathaway’s cottage. With its colorful garden and white exterior, the house reminded me of an illustration in a storybook.
The cottage was larger than I imagined it would be. It was 2 stories high and had a thatched roof. Are you wondering why this cottage is important to Shakespeare’s life? Well, Anne Hathaway became William Shakespeare’s wife. This is her childhood home. Our guide, Charles, let me sit me on a very special bench. It’s called the courting bench. Experts believe it has been in the cottage since Shakespeare’s time. Maybe this is where William sat and shared his poetry with Anne. I like the idea of that! Do you know how your parents or grandparents met each other? Your happy tour guide,
