Transcription
Transcription is writing down what someone says, or writing down words as they are spoken.
When writing down words in other languages, transcription means writing down the sounds the words make. This way, people who don’t know the original language can still make the same sounds. For example, take the word ‘fajita’ from Spanish. If it was transcribed in English, it might be written ‘faheeta.’
One example of a transcriber is a court reporter, who types what is said during a trial.
