Roman Era

The Roman Era lasted from 27 BCE to 476 CE.

During this time, the Romans ruled large territories of land in Europe and the Mediterranean. At its peak, Rome controlled 2,300,000 square miles of land. More than 1/5 of the world’s people were Roman citizens at this time.

The empire fell in the late 3rd century CE. This is because the Roman Empire was made weak by civil war and economic hardships.
