Rababa

The rababa is a traditional Middle Eastern stringed instrument. It’s related to the modern day violin. It first appeared in the Middle East in the 8th century CE, making it one of the oldest string instruments in the world.

A rababa has 1 or 2 strings stretched across the length of a long neck that is attached to a small round or box-shaped body. The body of the rababa is covered with parchment or animal skin.
