The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a small country located in the Middle East. It shares borders with Iraq, Israel, Syria, the West Bank, and Saudi Arabia.

Some quick facts about Jordan include:

• In 2008, the population was approximately 6 million.
• Jordan gained its independence in 1946 from British control.
• Amman is Jordan’s capital city.
• Arabic is the official language of Jordan.
• Arabs make up the largest ethnic group with 98% of the population.
• Throughout history, Jordan has been inhabited by many different civilizations such as the Nabateans, the Romans, and the Ottomans.
