Student to Student: South Africa
Meet ProjectExplorer’s Junior Journalists
February 26, 2008 Having arrived in South Africa just 12 hours prior, Ilana Fayerman and Jenny Buccos, from team ProjectExplorer, were greeted by the entire school. The school day began with singing, speeches, and some traditional Tswana dance. Be sure to check out the video below to see how the students at Mpontsheng Secondary School celebrated the official start of the Student to Student program and arrival of the ProjectExplorers. Who are the Junior Journalists? Team ProjectExplorer asked each of these five high school students a few questions on Day 1. So that you may get to better know them, we have produced a short video (below). Find out about their favorite foods, their communities, and what music they listen to. Their Story The Mpontsheng Student to Student team has developed, researched, written, and filmed a mini-series on education in South Africa. Beginning with the June 16th, 1976 Student Uprisings in Soweto, this is the issue that they chose to share with you, their fellow South Africans, and students around the world. THE STUDENT TO STUDENT SERIES IS COMING SOON Please register to be notified when the films and photos are available for viewing. We will send you an email as they are posted on our website. In the meantime, enjoy the videos below.
