Ubuntu is a South African cultural and spiritual concept. A uniquely African concept, it does not have a direct translation into English. It can, however, be loosely described as: ‘Humanity toward others,’ or the belief that humanity shares a universal bond.

Ubuntu has been central to the philosophies of the new South African republic.
