While cricket may not be a popular in America, this game ranks as the world’s third most popular sport, trailing only football (soccer) and basketball.

Cricket first originated in England over 500 years ago and is now played in about 120 countries around the world. Every four years there is a Cricket World Cup, in which all the teams in the World Cricket Council face-off to determine the world champion cricket team. dIn 2003, South Africa had a highly successful showing as the host country for the Cricket World Cup, and in 2007, they were narrowly defeated by Australia in the semifinal.
