Retirement
Day 7
We arrived at New Place bright and early! We have been very lucky with the weather; today was bright, sunny, and warm. The funny thing about doing interviews and filming is we never know exactly who we will be filming. We have be very lucky so far and today was no different. At New Place, we met Jill Pickles who showed us around Shakespeare's final home. Unfortunately, all but part of the foundation and a well has been demolished. A vicar named Francis Gastrell purchased the house in the 1700's. By then, William Shakespeare had become very famous and people traveled to see his home. Apparently, the vicar grew irritated by the visitors and had the house demolished. Today, there is a knot garden on the site. English gardens are incredible. A knot garden is designed with intricate patterns and shapes. I wish I could have spent more time wandering the garden, but there are other stops along the Shakespeare trail for us. All the best,
