and
Middle School
Objective: This lesson is designed to have students discuss different types of cheeses and what foods they can find cheese in. Lesson: Host an in-class cheese tasting. We suggest the following cheeses for your in-class tasting:
Of course, you may select any cheeses you prefer, but try to select cheese from different regions in a variety of textures, appearances, and tastes. Provide each student with a copy of the Cheese Tasting handout. As they taste each cheese, they should describe and rate the cheeses. We have provided a list of adjectives that describe various types of cheese to help students get started. Encourage them to use their own words when describing each cheese; words like gross and good should not be allowed for this exercise. Student Assessment: After completing this lesson students should be able to identify the different types of cheeses and how they taste. Curriculum Connections: English, Life Skills
