Bells Are Ringing: The Whitechapel Bell Foundry Middle Elementary
Objective: This lesson plan is designed to help students clearly communicate and instruct their peers in a task. Lesson plan: Today, the ProjectExplorer team learned how to make bells. Discuss the different ways students have learned to perform tasks or complete project (e.g. riding a bike, learning to tie shoelaces, learning to make a bed, etc.) Students may work independently or as a group. Have each group or student select a task or project to teach the other students. Depending on the tasks selected allocate an amount of time before having students give a presentation. Assessment: A student's success may be measured by the number of questions the class has after his/her presentation. Have students think about all of the possible questions that may arise as they prepare their lesson. Curriculum Connections: English, Life Skills, Science Skills Middle School

Objective: This lesson plan is designed to clearly communicate and instruct their peers in a task. Lesson plan: Today, the ProjectExplorer team learned how to make bells. Some processes and projects have long books or training manuals designed to inform and instruct. Other tasks and projects require short pamphlets or brochures. Discuss where students have seen these brochures or instructions. What did they look like; did they have lots of images or diagrams? Have students examine instruction manuals that are available to you. (e.g, for an iPod, coffee maker, pre-fabricated furniture, etc.) Students may work independently or as a group. Supply each student or group with paper to create his or her own "How To" guide. Each student will create a guide that provides enough information so that the reader can understand and perform the task explained. (Consider using graphic design software if available for this activity.) Depending on the processes or tasks chosen, selected guides can be used in-class to perform the activity shown. Assessment: By the end of this lesson, students should understand the purpose of an educational or instructional manual. Students should also be able to present information in a clear and organized manner. Curriculum Connections: English, Life Skills, Social Studies, Science Skills, Technology Go to the next day >
