Turkish Delight
Middle Elementary
and
Middle School
Objective: This lesson is designed to explore different cultures, countries, and cuisines. Students will also investigate their own cultural backgrounds. Lesson plan: Begin by listing different types of cuisine that students have tried, mentioning a specific dish. Once a list is complete, ask students if they have a traditional dish in their family. Where did it come from? Have each student contribute a recipe from their own culture. It may be necessary for students to ask parents/guardians about their ancestral roots. Students should also contribute an image that they think represents their culture. Once recipes have been collected create a Classroom Cookbook.
