Objective: This lesson is designed to teach students about diverse cuisines and how to make a healthy snack.

Lesson 1:
A Lassi is a traditional South Asian non-alcoholic beverage. It is very similar to a milkshake. In a milkshake, milk is used, while in Lassi, plain yogurt is used. Gather the ingredients needed to make Mango Lassis with your class. You will need to bring a blender for use in the classroom. Using plastic knives, have the students help cut a mango into pieces. Have the students help measure the ingredients and place into the blender. Follow the recipe below.

Ingredients:
1 mango
1 cup of whole milk
1/2 cup of regular yogurt
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 cup ice-cold water

Directions:
Cut the mango into small pieces and blend until smooth. Then add yogurt, sugar, milk and water and blend for about 2-3 minutes or until you see a little foam forming in the mixture.
Serve chilled.

Serves 6-8 students.
